SCHICKEL DESIGN COMPANY BRINGS VIBRANT NEW ART TO GOOD SAM

Schickel Design Company has been hired by Good Samaritan Hospital to create works of art, which connect the user to the vision and values of the hospital and make the architectural environment speak of the name and story of the Good Samaritan who reached out across cultural barriers to help someone in need.

The project is being done under the direction of Sister Agnes Coveney, OSU, Director of Mission Integration and David Dornheggen Chief Operating Officer for the hospital. The goal is to create an authentic artistic expression of the healing work of Good Samaritan Hospital and to convey in a fresh and attractive way its Catholic identity. “Because of the interfaith environment that we live in we are working at a broad aesthetic that welcomes all with the gift of comfort and welcome and encouragement inherent in the founding ideals of Good Samaritan,” says Martha Schickel Dorff, architect and artist & president of Schickel Design Company.

The areas of focus will be the new Dixmyth Lobby and entrance area, the new Main Street which will connect the Dixmyth and Clifton Avenue Lobby areas, and selected elevator lobbies.
