SCHICKEL DESIGN WINS 2010 PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT OF THE YEAR "STAR AWARD," PRESENTATION & TOUR APRIL 27, 2010
Over-the-Rhine-based Schickel Design Company will be honored for its contribution to "City Home," a downtown Cincinnati residential project northeast of Music Hall. Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine Chamber will present Schickel Design with the "2010 Property Development of the Year Star Award" at its Annual Meeting and Star Awards Luncheon on April 27, 11:30 am, at the Music Hall Ballroom. Schickel Design Company shares the award with Over-the-Rhine Community Housing (OTRCH), Cincinnati-based Eber Development LLC and Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC). Go to OTRChamber.com to register.
"I'm honored to accept the award from the chamber and grateful to a wonderful team including: OTRCH, Eber Development, and 3CDC who believed in and supported my vision. I'm also indebted and humbled by the vision and skill of the hardworking German American immigrants who built a world-class neighborhood here and who in some sense pointed the way for us in our efforts now to build sustainably and with a greater sense of community," Martha Schickel Dorff said when notified of the award.
City Home Cincinnati is part of 3CDC's highly successful Gateway Quarter development effort.
The recently completed first phase of the City Home development combines renovation with new construction, including five new town homes and six renovated condominium units now for sale in the 1400 block of Pleasant Street. When complete, City Home will encompass 25 for-sale town homes and condominiums and one commercial space at the corner of 14th and Race. City Home is located in the emerging historic Washington Park area, northeast of Music Hall. The project connects renovation and new construction with historic alleys and small streets to create an attractive, livable new/old walkable neighborhood with convenience and unique amenities, buried utility lines, community garden and an enhanced streetscape.
