DESCRIPTION: Schickel Design is currently working with Meghan Nowland, a homebirth midwife, to convert an old Victorian style residence into the new home of the Cincinnati Birth Center, which will provide a central location and headquarters for the home-visit services she and her team currently provide. In addition to adding handicap access, Nowland hired us to navigate all of the permitting required to open a business in a formerly residential building. We presented a project proposal to the Walnut Hills Community Council, submitted a zoning map, requested a zone change from residence to commercial, and obtained a certificate of occupancy for commercial space. Construction is currently underway.
